Our Ultrasound of the Liver CE course is an introduction to ultrasound that addresses the different ultrasound imaging modes, as well as the strengths of ultrasound as compared to CT and MRI, as well as an overview of the anatomy of the liver and its division into segments to facilitate the localization of tumors.

The course describes each specific ultrasound mode used for imaging the liver, with a special focus on contrast-enhanced ultrasound—which increases image quality to a level similar to that of CT and MRI—and a description of the use of endoscopic ultrasonography and elastography for the diagnosis of liver diseases. It also covers examination techniques, factors to consider for optimal imaging, and problems that the technologist may face during imaging. The final part of the course presents and discusses different liver diseases, such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, adenoma, and the characteristics of benign and malignant liver tumors. The course concludes with descriptions of the specific ultrasound mode to be used with each liver disease and specifies the technique that should be used to improve the quality of the images and to obtain the best possible diagnosis.

As a basic-level course, Ultrasound of the Liver is intended for sonographers who need a refresher on liver ultrasonography, those reviewing and studying for sonography registries, or students in sonography programs looking to gain a deeper understanding of liver ultrasonography techniques and applications.
