Mammo Continuing Education (CEUs) for Radiologic Technologists
Our online mammography continuing education courses are intended to provide a variety of clinical content directly related to RTs’ daily practices. Not only will our inventory of courses help you earn the mammo CEUs you need to complete your ARRT certification renewal or CQR requirements, but it will also provide you with an engaging and practicable learning experience that will help you improve your practice. All of the courses in this library were developed by RTs and specifically designed with RTs’ daily work experience, frustrations, and needs in mind, with interactive and easy-to-follow content on a wide range of topics. Below you will find overviews of each of our mammography continuing education courses. Our Mammography Training Course covers the fundamentals of mammography. It is intended to address the majority of topics that may be encountered during the mammography technologist’s daily practice. The topics covered within this course focus on the fundamental principles of mammography, the basics of the breast, mammary classifications, male breasts, and breast cancer treatment. This course also covers mammographic techniques and protocols, detailing the different mammography technologies, quality control guidelines in analogue and digital mammograms, patient positioning techniques, and the artifacts that a mammography technologist may encounter. This course is eligible for 9.75 mammography continuing education credits.
Our Digital Breast Tomosynthesis course provides an introduction to digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), a three-dimensional breast imaging technique. It provides an explanation of how DBT works, its clinical applications, the advantages and disadvantages of three-dimensional breast imaging, as well as a description of the features of different DBT units. The course also covers the MQSA accreditation and certification process, and details what training is required for technologists, radiologists, and physicists using DBT. This course qualifies for 6 mammo CEUs.
Patient Preparation and Education in Mammography is a short module that qualifies for 2 mammography CE credits. This course deals primarily with the importance of patient preparation for a mammogram and how to ensure a better experience for the patient and a higher quality image for diagnosis.
Radiation Dose in Mammography is a one-module course that focuses on the measurement of radiation exposure and the radiation doses to the breast associated with different breast imaging techniques. It covers breast anatomy and the different types of breast cancer, and provides an explanation of how breast density may affect breast cancer diagnosis. This course is eligible for 1.5 mammo CEUs.
