Comprehensive MRI Safety Review
A comprehensive six-module MRI safety course for Imaging Assistants covering screening, implants, personnel roles, MRI safety zones, equipment, risk management, and emergency response. It provides 13.5 ARRT®-accepted Category A CE credits that can be used toward ARRT® certification and registration renewal, state license renewal, and CQR requirements.
Course Description
Build the MRI safety knowledge needed to work confidently in the MR environment with a comprehensive course designed specifically for Imaging Assistants, Magnetic Resonance (IA, MR). Comprehensive MRI Safety Review takes learners through six progressive modules covering MRI screening and patient education, implants and on-plants, personnel roles and responsibilities, MRI safety zones and electromagnetic fields, the MRI environment and equipment, and advanced safety and emergency situations. The course is intentionally structured for learners with little or no previous MRI background, introducing concepts step by step and reinforcing them throughout the program.
Move beyond simply memorizing MRI safety rules and develop a stronger understanding of why they matter and how to apply them in practice. Learners explore patient and personnel screening, implant safety, ferromagnetic and projectile hazards, MRI personnel responsibilities, safety zones, coils and ancillary equipment, cryogen safety, risk management, SAR, quench procedures, near-miss reporting, and emergency response, including considerations for remote MRI operations. Interactive knowledge checks and case-based learning reinforce key concepts throughout the course, helping Imaging Assistants strengthen the safety awareness and critical-thinking skills needed in the MRI environment. The course provides 12 CE credits in MRI safety for the Imaging Assistant and is designed to reinforce knowledge relevant to preparation for the ARRT® IA credential examination.
