Welcome to Medical Professionals’ library of radiology continuing professional development (CPD) courses for radiologic technologists and radiation therapists in Ireland. Our online radiology and radiation therapy courses are designed to support ongoing professional learning and help registrants meet the continuing professional development (CPD) requirements set by CORU.
Our CPD courses allow you to develop your knowledge and skills through flexible, self-paced learning.
Radiography Regulation in Ireland – CORU
In Ireland, radiographers and radiation therapists are regulated by CORU, the Health and Social Care Professionals Council established by the Irish government under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (as amended).
CORU’s role is to protect the public by promoting high standards of:
- Professional conduct.
- Education and training.
- Ongoing competence.
This is achieved through statutory registration and the requirement for registrants to engage in continuous professional development (CPD) throughout their careers.
CORU and CPD types
Unlike some regulatory bodies, CORU does not accredit, approve, or endorse CPD providers or activities.
Instead, CORU places responsibility on each registrant to:
- Identify suitable CPD activities.
- Choose learning that is relevant to their professional role.
- Allocate CPD credits based on new or enhanced learning, not repetition.
CPD may take many forms, including:
- Online courses and webinars.
- Reading and reflecting on journal articles.
- Participation in workshops or conferences.
- Discussion of clinical cases with colleagues.
- Involvement in professional or institutional committees.
What matters is learning impact and relevance, rather than the format alone.
How Our Radiology CPD Courses Support CORU Registrants
Our radiology CPD courses are designed to:
- Support new and enhanced learning.
- Be relevant to radiography and radiation therapy practice.
- Fit within CORU’s self-directed CPD framework.
- Help you build clear, audit-ready CPD records.
While CORU does not accredit CPD activities, our structured online courses offer meaningful learning experiences that registrants can include in their CPD portfolios.
Continuing Professional Development Requirements
CPD is an ongoing process, and a range of learning activities should be undertaken regularly. It is expected that, at a minimum, you can demonstrate achieving 30 CPD credits every 12 months.
Generally, one hour of CPD learning activity is equivalent to one CPD credit, provided the learning is new or enhanced.
For further details, please refer to CORU’s official guidance on CPD for Radiographers and Radiation Therapists.
