‘There must be more to this than what we were taught.’ It sounds simple, pick up a needle and stick. But anyone who has ever performed venipuncture – tried to locate a vein and insert a needle into that vein – knows that it’s not that simple, that there must be more to it. There is. There are even more problems than the obvious missed stick, vein rupture, and infiltration. Those are the ‘visible’ failures of vein access. Vein Access Technologies has STEM analyzed the vein access procedure: identifying all the complications, compromises, injuries, and failures (CCIFs), explaining how they occur, and then developed new vein access technique to avoid all those CCIF(s) – the 21cVA Technique for Locating, Dilating, Grading and Access Veins for the Injection of Contrast. In this first session, you will learn how to Locate a Healthy Vein with the new technique, setting up the actual vein access – inserting a needle into that vein – for success.
