Practical Demonstration: Second and Third Trimester Ultrasound
Follow a practical, step-by-step demonstration of a second- and third-trimester ultrasound examination, covering systematic fetal anatomy assessment, key measurements, imaging techniques, and Doppler evaluation. This course provides 1.00 ASRT®-approved Category A CE credit that can be used toward ARDMS®, APCA®, and ARRT® certification and registration renewal, state license renewal, and CQR requirements.
Course Description
Gain a practical, step-by-step view of how a second- and third-trimester obstetric ultrasound examination is performed in real clinical practice. Led by obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Olivia Anseleme, this course follows a systematic fetal anatomy examination and shows how transducer position, imaging planes, depth, presets, and other scanning techniques are adjusted based on fetal position and the structures being assessed.
Through a comprehensive fetal survey, you’ll see how to assess the fetal head and brain, face, thorax and heart, abdomen, kidneys, spine, bladder, and upper and lower limbs, as well as how to obtain key biometric measurements and evaluate the placenta and amniotic fluid. The demonstration also introduces umbilical artery and middle cerebral artery Doppler assessment, while highlighting practical strategies for obtaining appropriate views when fetal movement or positioning makes visualization more challenging.
