Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need 32 or 17 Structured Education credits?
ARRT® requires 32 discipline-specific Structured Education credits for I.A.(MR). If you hold a current medical credential recognized and approved by ARRT®, up to 15 credits may be applied toward this requirement, reducing the minimum to 17 Structured Education credits.
What qualifies as a prerequisite medical credential?
A prerequisite medical credential must be current, require maintenance of certification, and be recognized by ARRT®. Your credential must be submitted to ARRT® for review and approval before the reduced 17-credit Structured Education requirement applies.
If I qualify for the 17-credit pathway, which courses should I complete?
If ARRT® approves your prerequisite medical credential, you can focus on the courses in this package that cover the reduced requirements in Patient Care, MRI Screening and Safety, and Positioning and Anatomical Landmarking:
- Patient Care in Radiology – provides the required Patient Care credit
- Comprehensive MRI Safety Review – provides the required MRI Screening and Safety credits
- Neuro Anatomy & MRI Positioning – contributes 3 credits toward Positioning and Anatomical Landmarking
- MSK Anatomy & MRI Positioning – contributes 2.25 credits toward Positioning and Anatomical Landmarking
Do I have to complete every course in the package?
It depends on your pathway. Candidates following the 32-credit pathway should complete all courses required to satisfy the applicable Structured Education categories. If ARRT® approves your prerequisite credential and you qualify for the 17-credit pathway, you can focus on the four courses identified above. You can still complete the remaining courses to earn additional CE credits.
How many Structured Education credits does the package cover?
The package provides 34 Structured Education credits across the required I.A.(MR) content areas: Patient Care, MRI Screening and Safety, and Positioning and Anatomical Landmarking.
See the Structured Education Credit Distribution table above for the detailed breakdown.
How many total Continuing Education credits can I earn with this package?
By completing all courses included in the package, you can earn a total of 38.25 CE credits.
Can these credits also be used for CE/CQR?

For CQR, the courses you need will depend on the specific CE areas identified in your individual CQR prescription. Use our CQR Simulator Tool to find courses that match your requirements.
